Today is the end of the first camp and it was an awesome time! The cool thing is that some of the new friends I have made during the first week are staying and doing another camp which is excellent because we can hang out more. The new friends that I have made that left today actually left a lasting impression on me as I hope I have for them, we are all connected through social media so I hope we can stay in touch and cross paths again down the road!
Yesterday we did have a big last ride for the week one camp. It was absolutely gorgeous exploring and enjoying Strong Like Bull’s Ruta del Rute course! Coming over one hill we came into a whole field covered in beautiful yellow flowers.mthe blue sky made the flowers pop and of course the olive trees added a nice flavor to the picture ( pun intended)(ha ha ah ah ha ha)!
Later in the ride we came to the Reservoir of Iznájar… Whoa! Another gem in the big pockets of Southern Spain! I love how all,the almond trees are in bloom! It’s actually quite similar to Washington DC with the cherry blossoms except instead of being surrounded by pavement, you are completely taken over by the endless rows after rows of olive trees and jutting mountains covered in a plethora of colorful rocks! It’s quite the experience that I will hold onto for quite some time!
When we were leaving the town of Iznájar, we crossed the reservoir and went over this amazingly huge dam! I stopped in the middle of the bridge and looked over for a bit. Quite the way down from up,here but it looks so majestic just like the castles that are sporadicly spread throughout this area!
One of the coolest things about yesterday was that I was making a turn from a side road to an even more unmarked road when I saw my friend John pointing. I looked and saw the yellow arrow and was like no way! I was on one of the routes of the camino de Santiago! I jumped out and took a picture. It was really cool and kind of set me back for a second and made my mind start going a million miles per hour thinking about my camino. What am I going to do and thinking about where to stay and eat then I just stopped. Why think about it and set expectations? Then when I am there I will be thinking about what I thought I should think about! I let it go and started smiling. I’m ready to experience the camino de Santiago for what it is and for what it has in store for me! I’m set free to the universe and I’m flying so peacefully! Im excited about the walk and also excited to retrace some steps of one of my best friends! As excited I am about the camino, it will have its time and I will feel it when I’m there. Right now I am having the time of a lifetime at the strong like bull, training camp with some spectacular people! Enjoying the moment and see where it will take me! Truly living life and I have to say, this is pretty freakin fun! Pura Vida!
