Day 7: 20.6 kilometers
Total: 197.8 kilometers
Today started off pretty wet! It rained quite a but over night and kept on going on the morning. The wind picked up too which made for a chilly morning. I started off with my classic rain coat on my arms but over my backpack to keep it a bit dry. It is a classic move and I like it because I don’t get too hot on my back when I do this. Pretty much the perfect situation as long as it does not rain too hard! Even though it was raining it was a beautiful day with views all around! Not too much climbing so it was an easier day and it was shorter – only 20 kilometers. It was nice to take a break (kind of) and let my body heal a bit. Overall my body is doing pretty well! Just a blister on one toe and a little bit of soreness in my one knee but when I walk I feel great!
Here is a picture of me in my outfit! I also put a buff over my ears and face to stay warm. The wind was cold and cut right through you! Another thing about this picture is the woods! I love going through little sections like this and just smell the pine needles! So beautiful! I always pick up one or two and bring it with me to smell. Makes me smile a lot
I started out walking alone in the morning but just before I made it to Viana I ran into Gian Marco and Muhamed. This made today a great one! When we first started walking together Gian Marco and me started talking and totally walked right off the way… Thank goodness for Muhamed! He whistled us back on the right path! It made me laugh even more when Muhamed walked off course and Gian Marco and me had to whistle to him! Hahahah. Good times! We made it to Logrono just before one in the afternoon and hit up a market for some bread, tuna, and tomato and made a perfect lunch! I went out and explored the city which was fun and super busy with so many people! The main event though was tonight!
Ja Marco made the absolute best Carbonara I’ve ever tasted! The kitchen smelled amazing and the food tasted like heaven! We pushed the two tables in the kitchen at the Albergue together and made a long table and our family sat down for an amazing dinner! This was so perfect! I love this so much! Such great friends, such great food, such camaraderie, such love. This is what the Camino is all about. Not only am I loved, I see love and feel love from all those around me. It’s so amazing. I will keep these memories with me for the rest of my life. These experiences with my new friends really show what family is all about. I love my family and am enjoying every moment I get with each and every one of them! Pura Vida y buen camino! #AdventureOn
